The Wonder Valley column is published in the Desert Trail, and posted here, every Thursday.

Louise Borquez wrote the Wonder Valley column for 18 years, beginning in the mid-1990s. Louise's daughters, Karen and Darlene (Dar) took over the column almost three years ago. They said they "have a long way to go to catch up with Mother!!"

Karen Meyers and Dar Parris volunteer as docents at the Old Schoolhouse Museum, and Karen volunteers at Sky's the Limit Thrift Store. The sisters both love to make greeting cards, and try to get together to do just that once or twice a month.

If you have any Wonder Valley news or gossip (nice gossip), please email it to

  1. Hello Everyone,

My name is Larry Woolf and I currently have two homes in 29 Palms. I have truly fallen in love with this area and desperately want to find a nice little place to buy out in Wonder Valley. Every person Iv'e met from that part of the desert has been great. More importantly, the Wonder Valley area itself almost seems magical! I'm spending more and more time there. If anyone knows of a smallish place for sale, I would appreciate it if you would give me a heads up. It's for me and my wife only. I'm not some jerk looking to buy cheap and flip a house for profit! I give you my word that we are good, respectful people and would be good neighbors. I love this website and look forward to meeting many of you in the future.

    Larry Woolf,

  2. Update... Teresa suggested that I look into buying a place through the SB. Tax Deed Auction. I had no idea that such a thing even exsisted. As it turns out, I purchased a place through the auction last week. As I said in my last post, I look forward to meeting many of you in the near future. I want to give a special Thank You to Teresa for the tip on the auction. I hope to see you soon.

    Larry Woolf
