Our Local Community Meeting Notices, Agendas, and Notes

The Morongo Basin Municipal Advisory Council (MAC)
Nine County-appointed delegates represent the nine unincorporated communities of the Morongo Basin, advising Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe. The nine unincorporated areas include Copper Mountain Mesa, Desert Heights, Flamingo Heights, Joshua Tree, Landers, Morongo Valley, Pioneertown, Wonder Valley, and Yucca Mesa. As of November 2021, the MAC has been dissolved while San Bernardino County goes through a redistricting for the Board of Supervisors which is expected to be completed by Spring 2022. Although the Morongo Basin will remain in the Third District, once the redistricting is completed, Supervisor Dawn Rowe will most likely reconstitute some version of the MAC, perhaps with another variation of unincorporated communities represented and new volunteer delegates will be selected and sworn-in.

Before the COVID-19 restrictions, the MAC met every 2nd Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at the Joshua Tree Community Center, 6171 Sunburst Avenue, Joshua Tree, CA 92252. The public is invited and welcome to attend and participate in the meetings through online meetings conducted over Zoom. Public comment is made at the end of the agenda and the public is invited to address issues important to them. Representatives of the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the SBC Sheriff's Department, and SBC Fire Department also present updates and are available to answer questions following their reports.

Our most recent volunteer delegates for Wonder Valley have been Teresa Sitz (2015-2018) and Steve Reyes (2019-2021).
